With Apologies

With Apologies

A Chapter by Dave Brown

Under that Hosta

Not much of a surprise

A soft-eared bunny rabbit

With lovely brown eyes

Happily munching plants

Usually those most expensive

With the extent of the munching

Usually quite extensive

We have tried reasoning

But they are so sweet

And tho’ plants cost us a bundle

We just let them eat

Another delightful wildlife poem! I live in a town, but we have created a wildlife friendly garden and we do have urban foxes visit (they would keep the rabbits away!)

That's interesting
We border on a forest but have never seen a fox
Nice tight little humour packed rhymer here Dave. Our garden is rabbit proof because a few years ago the population exploded and like the vermin they are they ate anything not tied down. Look though as if the farmer has now put paid to them!

Have to admit I had no idea what a hosta was. Had to Google it! Little bunny rabbits are so cute that it is hard to be angry with them. Such a sweet write with great rhyming. Lydi**

They are sweet tasting succulence to the little creatures of the night
We don't have that worry with bunnies. Hostas though attract snails and we have a problem with them. Given up now with Hostas and plant something else.

it not that were hostile with those hosta bushes... its just they make great hostels for our visiting bunnies:) those roots are so tender and they make them feel at home and it is much less cold then those big bunny hotels with the wire doors! Those bunnies just look sad and they speak a strange language... they are always going on about Hasenpfeffer? I don't know but it must not taste very good cause they always complain about it:( yep free range bunnies are the happiest of bunnies

This is so true in my garden as well. I loved the rhythm of this poem; especially the second stanza. Very nicely done! I needed this light-hearted poem today. Thank you
