Counting Nights

Counting Nights

A Chapter by Dave Brown

Igor had been counting the nights

Which wasn’t real easy

Cuz when he thought of Halloween

His empty stomach got real queasy

All those yummy little morsels

Each in their cute little costume

For their sweet juicy bodies

He had saved stomach room

Knowing the count was right

He readied to go on the prowl

But before he slunk from his filthy coffin

He let out a blood curdling howl

But no sound came forth

Not one single peep had been gotten

Because after existing for over two thousand years

He was now completely rotten

This is how I feel half the time. I'm so ancient & putrid, I would be a 2000-yo pickle smooshing big time when pried from my restrictive briny jar. Plus I'm so forgetful & disconnected from reality, I would be struggling to figure out when to be on the lookout for trick-or-treating morsels to toss into my witch's cauldron. You are seriously tempting me to write a Halloween ditty but I'm so intimidated by your recent onslaught, I don't know if I can throw down anything that compares to your strident lineup of loony tunes (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
