The Dark

The Dark

A Chapter by Dave Brown

In the darkening forest

It was at the top of the tree

A black shape watching

I knew it ate living things

And it was waiting

But autumn’s creatures were fewer

And I could feel its anger

I could feel its piercing brown eyes

Like two daggers

And it was getting very dark

When I looked again

I could see nothing

Quickly, I turned, going along the path

But there was something ahead

Dark, hulking, intimidating

Then its huge wings spread

And came for me

I can feel the love in that thing as it comes for me. This pandemic has made me useless so I am surrendering and finally relieved and thrilled to be nice meat. Loved this spooky read!
