![]() Bone PileA Chapter by Dave Brown![]() '![]() It
was very late Black
all around Thick tall, black trees Somehow,
I’d become disoriented Couldn’t
figure out where I was Everything
looked different Having
no light I fumbled on Well
off the trail now Staggering
over, downed branches Pushing heavy, hanging branches aside That
slapped and slashed my face I
stumbled, tripped and fell Into
what at first felt like bones I
felt around and there were more They
were bones Of
all different sizes And
scattered parts of ribcages There
were broken shin sized bones And
at least two damaged skulls I
lay still, quietly stunned What
had I stumbled upon Then
a noise Something
large crushing branches Fear
gripped me I
was afraid to breath My
heart was thumping How
could it not hear the beating Then,
yellow slits looked down at me A
huge hairy arm reached out And
too soon I became more bones added to the pile © 2020 Dave BrownReviews
