The Power of Prayer

The Power of Prayer

A Chapter by Dave Brown

The elder James Finn

Consumed a quart of smooth gin

Two Thursdays past, just after noon

He was then to swoon

Fell flat in his room

And had to be carted away

All felt there’d be no harm

Leaving him in the barn

There to sleep it off in the hay

Ere a fortnight had past

With James still being so gassed

That his kinfolk all knelt down to pray

With little to thank

Bout the usual spirits they drank

They all now wished a change in their way

The answer their prayers sought

Was where he had bought what he brought

That they could purchase very same straightaway

Given our contentious times (approaching covid death toll of quarter-million in the USA) escapism is my regular abode, along with many others. We don't need a freakin' vaccine, we need a panacea! There would be a long line if someone developed the "spirits" to knock us out for weeks at a time! *wink! wink!* fondly, Margie
