Day in the Life

Day in the Life

A Chapter by Dave Brown

As Apollo’s chariot started its climb

Morn’s light filtered through trees

He rolled over and stretched his full 9’

Scratched himself, then got onto his knees

      “Ugula, boogla gung ork gladd

(“Wow, it looks like a terrific morning Dear)

      Arggugo mung gorp yang glip!

(Time to get your sleepy head out of bed!)

Glulg gullop yun horga sos gang gank mog

(I feel extra hungry this morning)

      Morks gagga jillop tagagi lilta!”

(And I wouldn’t mind at all getting fed!”)

She stretched out to her full 7’ 9 1/4”

And roared out a monstrous yawn

Then, cuddling together, hairy arm in arm

They savoured the bright light of dawn

      “Aink golabolo pflaap jjikijlio

(“We don’t have any food for breakfast”)

      (Goitioh googinthaum horhad)

(You’ll have to go down to the creek)

      Mitrhimeen oyutrinftth othafr

(And so that we’ll have some extra in hand)

      Gagga goloopeerth muglspiy”

(Bring back enough fish for a week.”)

He scratched his great hairy body again

As he went down the creek path

Feeling like rats had burrowed into his fir

He decided to take a much needed bath

After they’d finished housecleaning the cave

They relaxed to watch the night sky

Lying together with their heads on a log

They contentedly watched the world going by

Indeed a day in the life of prehistoric, cave dwelling man. Given things have not changed much from your scenario I doubt the veracity of the 'man cave' as woman is still dominant. A jolly and amusing trip back in time and I for one am glad I took you along to interpret!

Amazingly, it doesn't read very differently from the modern forms of nagging we have now. The night sky has been replaced by the TV and the creek by the grocery store. They still have the same sun though.

You've outdone yourself! This is hillbilly heaven & I love your Yeti yammering. I suspected you lived in a Sasquatch-infested seashore, up there in some BC backwaters (checked a map) but I had no clue you actually speak their language. This is the funniest thing you've ever written. I find myself wanting more. This is so hilarious, I was hooting loudly as I enjoyed this slice of life from your wooley abominable mates up there. Your wife is a very tolerant & understanding woman (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
