Telling a Joke

Telling a Joke

A Chapter by Dave Brown

I told my dog a real good joke

About a golfer who’d had a stroke

But he didn’t laugh a lot

A brown eyed stare is what I got

No matter how many tries

All I got was those big brown eyes

It seems jokes don’t make his day

Much more inclined to horizontally lay

But there is a rise of both ears

When its the word food he hears

So, we’ve come to an understanding

Since his joke interest’s not expanding

Instead of jokes, we just talk food

Which puts him in a real good mood

Hahahaha there's good humor in this. No matter what you say to a dog, I'm sure their favorite word is food. Though I would love to hear your best jokes haha.

You have not posted this one. I would've remembered it, being the dog fanatic that I am. I love to speak to my dogs about things they don't often hear from my lips becuz their furry faces get all cranked into a question mark, like I'm speaking a foreign language. In summer, I leave the doors open 24/7, but in winter, "Wanna Go Outside?" is the phrase that gets the dog blood boiling. Also, when I remember it's time for a chewy & I say "oh yeah" under my breath -- how they can tell that "oh yeah" from all the others, I'll never know -- but they go straight to the chewy shelf & await my dispensing magic with skittering toenails. In this poem you capture the simple joys of peeling life back to the basics so we can commune with our pets (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
