Just Adorable

Up on the stoic red planet, they were

Dumfounded as our planet went white

Thinking that somehow

Things just couldn’t be right

 

They sent a team of green men down

In a car that Elton had constructed

Waiting until all the space junk cleared

That their route wouldn’t be obstructed

 

Landing on top of the north pole

Each dispatched one eyeball to observe

And what they saw there, touched

A hitherto unknown, soft Martian nerve

 

Martians were known to not smile

With grim looks permanently glued

But here, they saw joy, happiness, cheer

And smiling faces all in a holiday mood

 

Skull cracks appeared, ear to ear

Then came a huge Martian smile

And in no time at all

A complete new Martian lifestyle

 

The red planet was repainted white

Harsh, grim looks are now deplorable

And since Santa readjusted his flightpath

All Martians think he is simply adorable

Are you sure "they saw joy, happiness, cheer, and smiling faces all in a holiday mood"? As I recall there was very little of that last Christmas season. Maybe things are different on the North Pole since it's probably free from politics. Most inventive by far is V2 with "Elton" (isn't it Elon Musk?) & the space junk. You should do a poem on that alone. Screw these dumb cliche martians (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

PS Oooops! Maybe my review is too harsh . . . too much rain making me irritable . . . a ridiculous amount of rain . . . but it'll probably be dry & 80* next week so I'll stop my "old person griping" . . .
