Butter Tart

Butter Tart

A Chapter by Dave Brown
"

😁

"

A butter tart visited our face

Bringin along its fabulous taste

These are those of Christmas cheer

Especially when they come quite near

And just a short comment of note

My very close friend, who’s our throat

Also felt each tart, a dear

But weren’t no danged interest to our ear

I, as the rest of the intestine

With butter tarts, will spend plenty time

Yes, crumpled, but when they get to me

They’ll surrender their all, entirely

Made with brown sugar and butter

They send our taste bud a-flutter

Eggs, raisins and heavy cream

Almost complete this dessert dream

With walnuts added, they then progress

To unbaked tart shells that they address

And this extreme pleasure is then taken

For some specially careful bakin

And it is only slightly that I grumble

That they and throat first take a tumble

But then they will take the long slide

Until to me, they are no longer denied

Dave, a question:
Do you actually think in rhyme?
You write about daily topics like this one here.
I can picture you baking, walking around the kitchen, talking out loud, just spewing rhymes.
The ultimate poet!

This was a freakin' cliffhanger! For a minute there, when you mentioned "intestines", I wuz afeared this lollipop lolligag was heading into vile disgusting territory. You're famous for taking the most unbelievable swerves in your poems, I wuz bracing myself for the gory intestinal details. Thankfully you didn't take the leap into grotesque gurgles & smiling bowels. Phew! Actually, I'm buttered with envy over your highly imaginative POV, speaking in terms of internal organs, kinda flaky, kinda weird, but kudos for getting way outside the sausage skin on this one! Truth be known, I'm just pissed at how you flagrantly brag about how culinary spoiled you are (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
