Sipping Soup

Sipping Soup

A Chapter by Dave Brown
"

😉

"

I wonder why stars twinkle

Possibly it’s my sight

Because I blink so often

That half of day is night

My eyelids flicking up and down

Is really quite a problem

Cause when I try and sip my soup

My spoon is always wobblin

Some goes in my eye

And some gets up my nose

No matter how I try

That’s how the story goes

Tho, when I write a poor poem

It’s much less of a crime

Cause when it’s an awful write

I only notice half the time

This is popping with cleverness . . . "half of day is night" . . . "I only notice half the time" . . . this kind of inventiveness makes me wish my cerebral matter were half as vigorous as yours. I have officially entered that phase of life where I spill everything I touch on myself. I'm wearing whatever I was doing in the past hour. Well, at least I haven't progressed to diapers yet. And my eyes are still open more than half the time! heh! heh! heh! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I'll look
we can't fret over what we can't see. when you really get old we'll have to feed you through a straw or maybe with a slingshot - we wouldn't have to worry about hitting you in the eye because you can't see anyway. seriously, clever and relatable. i always say that such things are the good "stuff" of life - our faults and foible in this thing called life. look at the bright side - you could cut people in lines and then say that you can't see as an excuse to get away with it. at least you've got the soup, sometimes i can't even get the damned can open ... :)

👍 .
Could you use a straw? What about a feed bag? A guy has to have his soup! I know--you could prop your eyelids open with toothpicks. Yeah, that's the ticket. Problem solved. Now, if I could just get my right eye to quit closing when I drink coffee, I'd quit pouring it in my left ear. Now, who's the silliest?
