All Through the Night

All Through the Night

A Chapter by Dave Brown

There is a bit of a bad bawdy breeze blowin

They say it is a near hurricane showin

That hundred or so birds visiting each day

Are strugglin not to get blown away

With tree tops buckin the bad blowin bluster

Autumn’s departure’s allowed winter to muster

Colored leaves are now not more than mulch

With wearied wildlife sheltered down in the gulch

The fallen firewood has been waiting neatly piled

Willing to handle nasty weather when riled

And a couch and footstool both deserve mention

Which the old girl and I plan to give some attention

An ancient alder, once standing tall and grand

Targeted our power line for a place to land

But with our fire now warm, burning bright

We’ll share a sip and cuddle through the night
