Fuzzy Warm Slippers

Fuzzy Warm Slippers

A Chapter by Dave Brown

Capybara, longside the riverbank

To the Jaguar, looked good enough to eat

But creeping Jaguar cracked a twig

And Capybara quickly beat feet

Going then to the mall shoe store

To buy bedroom slippers, nice and quiet

Since guaranteed by the salesperson

Jaguar bought two pairs, thinking to try it

Sure enough, they seemed super sneaky

Not to mention, their very colorful trim

And with newly found confidence

He struck off to quickly use them

This time long riverside, Capybara

Were not able to hear

Hunting Jaguar’s

Fuzzy wuzzy slipper’s, creeping near

But cuddly wuddly thoughts of bedroom

While on Jaguar’s soft, quiet creep

Was again to save Capybara

Because yawning Jaguar fell quickly asleep

This is an example of how so many of your poems refuse to stay headed in a predictable direction. It's mind-boggling for us plodding dolts, thinking we're into a serious, if somewhat predictable nature documentary . . . then BAM! The leopard is in the slipper store. How do your synapses get from the jungle to the mall so fast? Teleleoparding? You might think about marketing this mojo somehow. A ton of people would love to snap their synapse bondage (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
