Spanish Treasure

Spanish Treasure

A Chapter by Dave Brown
"

"

Having been a God on a tropical beach

To some people seems out of reach

But when they are man-eaters, considering you as food

It puts any God into a super bad mood

And with these Cannibals' thinking us great to eat

Got my horse and I up onto our feet

But just as they were about to eat us and more

A pirate ship landed on the near shore

They’d heard of the man who was a God

Having a horse companion, which they thought kina odd

If they had arrived just one minute later

The Cannibals would have hit their barbecue activator

But the Pirates carried us both back to their ship

Leaving behind, annoyed people eaters, we’d given the slip

The bunch of us set out upon the seven seas

Intending to attack Spanish Galleons when we’d please

Since I was a God, what the captain decided to do

Was make my horse Clyde and I become the head of the crew

We directed the ship along the Spanish main

Looking for Spanish treasure we hoped to attain

Until finally we saw a three masted Ship with treasure

And attacking them, then became our pleasure

Our cannons fired round after round

The seas were filled with cannon’s ball’s smoke and sound

Until we threw over our grappling hook

And piled on board to give all their treasure the look

Silver and spice and jewels and gold

Filled the complete Spanish ship’s hold

All loading our pirate ship to the seams

Making us rich beyond our wildest dreams

On shore, we bought a pub full of grog

For endless months we lived high on the hog

But one day, and I know it sounds funny

We both had blown almost every cent of our money

Being a god isn’t much fun when you’re broke

Especially when a fortune had gone up in smoke

Since we could barely buy a bean in a store

Clyde and I cantered away from the shore

We again became travelers, just we two

Bidding our sea adventures, a final adieu

With our adventure and this day coming to a close

Night came and time for a doze

Somehow, we’d saved enough to buy an old 4x4 jeep

And in the back seat we both fell asleep
