Old Age

Old Age

A Poem by Dave Brown
"

👴

"

The Devil had sat at home for a year

Growing one fang while repairing an ear

With Halloween nearly coming

He’d started happily humming

Thinking bout consuming people with beer

His ragged old cloak was now mostly spent

His rusty pitchfork had been badly bent

His red eyes were now soft blue

He’d only one pointy shoe

Although he still retained his grave accent

But it was old age had him feeling sad

And his huge belly was looking real bad

He knew he was just lying

Bout potential night flying

So, he went back to just being Grandad

Blimey, this guy has picked up some bad habits in his old age. Look at that gut as well as the smoke pouring out of his mouth. You've almost got me feeling sorry for him :)) Another Halloweeny nightmare from your prolific muse. Hope all is well Dave.

Ok sorry never heard it before lol 😂
I guess as we grow old we feel like the snippy, devilish grandad...I like the soft blue eyes.
Gramps likes to come off as a troll, but has a heart of gold underneath...
and loves all those grandchildren.

so true
I have come to the conclusion Satan was the original disgruntled former employee. Because he refused to take orders from The Boss he was relegated to eternity in the boiler room. Sorry to hear he has aged so badly, with that gut and all. I fear his hell raising days are over.

Oh, how clever! I wonder if I can convince my grandkids I'm a supernatural creature? I couldn't even convince my kids I was a good tooth fairy! This poem is so fun, and it made me chuckle.

It is always worth a try
Thanks for the visit
That's the thing about grand-parenthood . . . g-kids don't care if you have an inflated belly or a shrunken spirit! You don't have to keep up with the goblins & specters. Now you've infected me with limerick again. I might have to spit a few out of my craw before I can continue my day (((HUGS)))

I think the belly thing is an expected part of the package
