The Cabin

The Cabin

A Poem by Dave Brown

Wild seas pound the rugged shoreline

Ancient rock moaned in futile resistance

Sea’s salt licked grass roots on high ledge

But neither enjoy their turmoiled romance

Ancient cabin clings neath tallest trees

Stoically staring beyond thrashing seas

Refusing to bend to stiffest of breeze

Neither to hottest days nor lowest degrees

Inside, lost hearts, the now silent occupants

Where once gay and bright did their happy dance

Now not blessed with the briefest slight glance

Forced to face misfortunes of life’s circumstance

But the old cabin cannot forever stand tall

Its sad story won’t experience a future forestall

The loving couple that once wandered each hall

Have both fatally faded into dark’s final call

So, it sit’s silent upon darkened clifftop

While constant wind and rain fail to stop

Left to the effects of decay’s spinning top

That once lovely cabin on the lonely hilltop

The photo with its pale colours is perfect and emotive along your gentle, sad and wistful words, an ancient cabin, a treasure one that still hold all the memories inside it, never these memories die no matter what the trails are (not even the global warming affects it ;>). I feel the spirits of the loving couple strolling in your lines, over that sea and rock, inside the cabin.

I am already a one 👻
dearest Dave… a sad, but lovely poem story of a Romantic way of Life by the treacherous Sea. I can just imagine the lonely Sound. So many Homes fade into the Dreams of Yesterday. May your Thanksgiving be filled with the Song 🎶 of the Willows as you dream on your Pillow. Gently, Pat
