Life

A Poem by David Ravencroft

I walk the same old streets,
Everything's always the same,
I see the same faces growing older,
Time has become meaningless,
Alone, scared and broken,
I'm nothing anymore,
Old memories bring nothing but sorrow,
Brokenhearted,
Lost,
Lifeless,
The radio sings the same old songs,
The world is on repeat,
Born to lose, die in obscurity,
How can this be it?
Is this really it?
How can that be?
There has to be more than this...

This sounds like the perfect beginning to a longer story. The desolation and anxiety about the future add tension to the dreary scene. The past and its burdens also fill in the picture. One unfinished...waiting for a resolution of any kind.

Well chosen words make this a great poem on your part.
