The Raven (revisited)

The Raven (revisited)

A Poem by Fabiana
"

Thoughts from my hostel room while traveling. I'd seen a bar called "the Raven" earlier and this started tooling around my mind.

"
I begged that god forsaken raven
to echo the words
"Nevermore"

But all I received was a curt "f**k you"
and he whisked away
On wings dripping ink on to the pavement

When next I saw him
I asked after the dead
He knew and said nothing

All he did was point with beak and claw
to the monuments,
                  new        and old
to gods both new        and old

I've always been a fan of Poe, even though people have told me that he is crazy, and that I should stop lionizing him. So i enjoyed this poem, especially the wit in your second stanza. That game me the vibe that lots of people have probably asked the raven something similar.

I think my favorite part of this one though was your closing stanza and the last two lines.
