August Light

August Light

A Poem by Fabiana

The trickling beams highlight

The rich greens and yellows

As they rustle in the breeze

Tearing from their mooring

They fly like tiny ships

home across the ever changing waters

Watching the ships flip over and over

in an endless turquoise sea

I sprawl on my blanket

With eyes and breath open

The leaves raining down,

kissing my knees

On this perfect summer day

Thanks so much! Summer is my favorite
It's rather succinct and also efficient in wording/imagery. The ending is subtle in a way. Wonderful piece!

Thank you!

I like the tightness and the concise nature of your lines in this one. The first stanza was really gorgeous. Your images and your rhythm really pulled me into the atmosphere of that day. The color and the liquid sounds of your words in that stanza also captured my attention. I also really appreciated these lines in the last stanza: The leaves raining down,/kissing my knees/On this perfect summer day." I think this is my favorite piece from you thus far. May the muse continue visiting you :-)
