Way of the Omega

Way of the Omega

A Poem by Samantha Altrosse
"

To read and interpret as you wish.

"

Stay,

Rein back,

Pick up the slack.

Unseen,

Unheard,

Unnoticed,

Lesser.

Stay back,

Rein it in,

The emotion within.

Accept the wear

Act like you care

Your soul they tear

It's to foster hate.

Now it's time to accept your fate.

Hide it all

Rein it in

Silence the internal din.

All the apathy rages to say

"I only act like I care about your day"

Or

"That's the reason I didn't stay.

Try to see from my point of view

Sad, pathetic, stupid you."

They turn their back

Pick up their slack

Unseen

Unheard

It's how I survive

The fight

The seemingly endless eternal hate

Almost surely to be my fate.

Is it too obvious? I think I could have made this much more abstract, the question is, how?

It must NOT be too obvious, or I might have gotten more from it! But free verse has always been a challenge for me. What I think I see is an embittered spirit, striving to continue, and to improve, in the midst of a sea of negativity.
I was a little curious about the phrase, "...apathy rages...". Is not the very definition of apathy having had ALL the active verbs quite driven out of oneself, so that one is no longer able or willing to enjoy, to rage, or to do? Something you may want to think about!
Hope I gor the interp right, at least partially! Good job! Mark
