Patience.

Patience.

A Poem by Rae
"

I've written nothing outside of school for forty days and forty nights, and with it, I learned one of the greatest values I could've: patience.

"
Not everything comes when we desire it most.
It comes when we need it most.

Five weeks.
Five days.
Five million ideas.

Ideas that have been wasted.

All but one, that is.

Preserved in a secret place,
Saved for that special day.

Six weeks.
Six days.
Six thousand unspoken "I love yous."

Until a day,
When one finally escapes.
Not from you.
From them.
The one you've silenced yourself around for so long.

Seven weeks.
Seven days.
Eight weeks, altogether.

Not many left;
Unless the chemotherapy works.
Only time will tell.

Five hundred twenty-five thousand, six hundred minutes.
Three hundred sixty-five days.
One year.

Finally, departure from the hospital.

The key: patience.♥
