Black Corvette

Black Corvette

A Poem by DareToDream
"

I fell in love with a black corvette...

"

He caught me by surprise

I was walking and he whispered my name

I turned around; it was then my life was changed.

He was there; a black shadow beneath a tree

I ventured closer…he called to me.

I knew I was in trouble when I couldn’t take my eyes off him;

He was inviting

All’s I just wanted to do was touch him.

Slowly my hand reached out to touch the glossy ebony;

Big mistake,

As soon as I did I was his; my heart was racing

The image of him and I together was too great.

I found myself sitting in the driver seat…

The touch of the steering wheel stirred something inside of me.

I longed to hear the soft rumble he would sing as we cruised down the street

The radio blasting,

“Little red corvette baby you're much too fast. Little red corvette you need to find a love that's gonna last…”

You wanted to go fast,

Letting off the brake, I took the turn

We hugged the corner, and left some burns

We sped down the street, you and I completely in sync…

I realized I was late for work now

Pulling my hand away hurt me somehow

Turning and running without a look back;

That was the day I left the great black.

In my mind I made a promise; I’d see you again,

As soon as I was old and had money to spend.
