Letting Go

 

I released my problems with exhausted breathlessness

as if helium was the magic ingredient.

A secret whisper with years of frustrations entering

each colored balloon.

Up they go one by one with a wisp of my breath each

one floating on clouds of fate and hope.

The breezy feeling of it all comparable to that of a refreshing

shower washing my troubles down the drain.

Anointed beads of forgiveness beat gently on my face.

Each delicate vessel holds a different pain.

A distinguishable emotion that has caused me distress,

anxiety, misery , sorrow.

I let them go filled with doubt and heavy heart, freeing

me from disillusions that have held me captive.

What a daunting task for these fragile creatures filled

with my manifestations of anguish.

Some may make their way back down to me from time

to time , that’s life.

Now I close my eyes breath in then out filling my spheres

of freedom, cross my fingers and then ……….

LET GO !!!!!!!!

It was really a clever choice; thinking of depicted the entire process in details.....
I like your poem so much... I am a person who completely believes in forgiveness and all the alleviation it always brings... I also, respect your bravery- only the brave can forgive..♥

Wow, this was such a beautiful piece Debbie. Wouldn't it be nice if we could just whisper our problems into a brightly colored ballon and then wave goodbye as they float out of sight. Very nicely done.

What a beautiful image of balloons representing things needing to let go and then the releasing of them. I imagine a different colored balloon for each heartache and the sky painted with rainbows. Truly a lovely poem.

Thank you Lori so much.... yes I heard from a few people after I wrote this that they have done this.... I only imagine it.... but I think I may go blow a few balloons up... write my problems in each and let them go for real :) Thank you again... I like your vision of it !!

I wrote some of my problems on skipping rocks once and skipped them across a river to let them go.. It for the time, but more problems just replaced the old ones.. I think I am about ready to skip some more rocks.

I used to write all my issues for the year on paper and on Halloween, I would burn them and cast the ashes to the wind.. I was studying Wicca at the time and Halloween is the Pagan New Year.. It at least made me feel good to release some issues for the year. I need to figure out a way to deal with things immediately and release them. Guess that will be my goal next.. lol
