~ Heavily Veiled~

~ Heavily Veiled~

A Poem by Debbie_Philly

Life love hope dreams
Friends lovers passion
streams like a steam liner
bulldozing through me

The waves that seem to
come all so frequently
crashing into my life
my thoughts my soul

Never giving a chance
to swim above it always
floating just on the top
enough to breath in rushed
fast paced sprints

Dieing day by day
hour by hour
minute by minute
take me out of this race

Sun filled days run into
pitch black nights
never feeling the difference
in this cloud filled haze

The darkness comforts me
hides the flaws my face
my pain encased like a
cocoon of wrath made
just for me

I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER

No longer climbing but scaling
these walls nails replaced by
claws leaving imprints in the cement
of this concrete jungle

Dream big they say find you way
they say.... " You Dream Big" !!!
I'm tired of the lies shrouded
in conceptions of long ago truths

Heavy... too Heavy
This veil is too thick
and my eyes are tired

Could this be about the dream that you can have it all.Gloria steinmen told us you could.however life doesnt work like that giving up a career to have children for instance .We all make choices that forever alter our destinies. With them come thew consequences of our actions

Agreed Peter :) thanks for reading !!
I think a lot of people would agree - many aspiring novelists on Writerscafe probably hoping their book is the next great *insert your genre here* novel (fantasy for me) will look at the words "Dream big" and nod. And a lot of them will look at your final lines and think, 'yeah, I'm tired, too.' Tired of waiting, tired of thinking and wishing.
Obviously this isn't just one theme - there are a lot if images swirling about in the whirlpool of this poem, some of them more visible than others. As I write this, I haven't checked out the other reviews yet, so I don't know if you've answered this - but I saw this as a poem about pain, deception, and about hopes verging on despair... and about how it can weigh down on the human spirit.

Strong work! Keep it up.

Amazing write! I too am stuck on the "dreams" and "truths" to life. Your poem is real and so many people or philosophies seem so fake to me lately. I really enjoyed this one.

Than k you so much Eileen !!! :) It means allot... On my way to read you !! :)
I love how the rhythm consumes the reader with feeling of passion, desire
and artistic insight that enlivens the flow and vividness of the meaning.
excellent job, I really enjoyed the abstract details that are captivating

Thought provoking. You took a different angle(and I'm pretty sure a little tinged with pessimism) to look at life. Like good old Bob Dylan said,

"How many roads must a man walk down
Before you call him a man?
How many seas must a white dove sail
Before she sleeps in the sand?"

Some say life is just a collection of mirage and illusions. I really loved this poem of yours in here and it really stirred up the whirlpool of thoughts in my mind. The veil is too heavy to see through and understand what life really holds out for you.

Kudos!
