Insecurities

Insecurities

A Poem by Debra Stevens Edwards (debby)
"

Our self image and insecurities.

[b]Insecurities

I don't like the way this fits.
Maybe I'm just too darn fat.
Will my life always be the pits?
Why am I always the last to bat?

Can't someone stop this madness?
Please can't you tell me just why,
do I feel so alone, full of sadness,
Feeling angry then I Suddenly cry.

Why would anyone love ever love me?
I feel like such an ugly mixed up mess.
What are you thinking when it's me you see.
I feel so unsure it's just growing up I guess.

Funny you should write this. My daughter and I were just talking about this last night. We were especially talking about body image and how they do all of the editing in the digital photography now to make everything look better than it really is. A little breast enhancement, shave a little off the behind, and so on.... I read some where that 15 minutes after a woman looks at a magazine and especially clothing ones like Newport News, etc...they will start feeling depressed because we have that tendency to look at the perfect bodies and compare.

I taught our youth on the above too and talked to them about taking their thoughts captive like 1 Corinthians 10:5 talks about. When we allow our thoughts to go bonkers like that, it leads to depression every single time. I am a living example of that. Use to do it ALL the time, and I was depressed ALL the time to boot. I love Philippians 4:8-11 for this.

You have written a piece that many will be able to relate to. Especially young girls and women. If I didn't know better I'd think you recorded my thoughts at one time or another...LOL

Your html code is showing, Debby. Just go in to edit and erase that part of it...GREAT write!

Not bad. I like how the font fit the poem's state of mind perfectly. I can see how emotional this subject is.

well. even the prettiest people have a insecurity.
i knew a girl who was drop dead gorgeous, but had really bad warts .

anyway. I like the poem. almost seems like your trying too hard to rhyme in some places though.

I like the topic since I am feeling this way right now in this moment. It's written well, just a couple typo things. Thank you for sharing.

This poem forces readers to grasp more firmly how the insecure feel. And that seems to be the mission of this poem. I see tweaks that I would suggest for the sake of meter and would be happy to share if you are interested.

Even without changes, though, you've penned a very effective poem.
