Sunset Shore

Sunset Shore

A Poem by Deegan

Sunset shore
Of sandy Cali beaches
With your silhouette,
Gliding across wet sand.
You leave no trace
Of ever walking these shores,
For your footprints
Disappear,
As the waves wash them away.
But I know it was you,
It always has been.
Bringing my sunsets,
Auroras of orange,
You stain my skies,
With a brilliant brightness
That reflects off these waters
And into my heart.
The pebbles beneath my feet,
Crunching beneath my toes,
Were once yours.
Until you went East
For a sunrise.
And now these stones
Drag down the sun
As it plunges beneath the surface
Of the brilliant blue.
I watch quietly
As my sky darkens,
Knowing,
You will soon get the sunrise
That you've always given me,
And that you've always deserved.
Thank you,
From the sunset shore,
Of sandy Cali beaches.

The thoughts of this piece brings one of longing and separation in the lines...yet the ending wraps this nicely with the passage of words you weave about the story...that even form a long distance both share an event of equal measure...
