A Poem by A.M. Nelson
"

almost a love poem

"

help me,  want me
need me   hold me.

-my song for you-
*

just a short while ago as the truck
stopped in you could say i was counting
rose-petals by the fire,
perhaps dismembering the space between
us.

your aglow tonight, my keys jangle,
they shiver at the door,
your coat reminds me of my wallet
and the things that throb within it.

you say nothing, your smile may hide it all,
i think to ask you why, forgetting all
courtesy, fumbling the symbolled stew
of romance, i think to say something
solemn, maybe forget to breathe a spell,
something something something-
like i love you- dressed in f*****g crayon.

this song of you,
duet of flower;
alloyed to our
element. two
of us, yes, twirling
our umbrellas.
