Please, Pick Up Your Phone

Please, Pick Up Your Phone

A Poem by Absentee Reality Check

pick up the phone.
answer your phone.
it's urgent.
don't let it ring out.
don't let this be your answering machine.
where are you?
you ought to be here.
you need to be here.
pacing doesn't relieve the tension.
come on, pick up the phone.
pick up your phone. I need to hear your voice.
please pick up your phone,
before it's too late,
before my nails are bitten to the quick,
before I have tugged my scalp raw and bald.
pick up your phone.
you need to know...
you would want to be told...
please, I'm begging you, pick up your phone!
you didn't pick up before.
now it is too late.
you should have been here.
I needed you.
I need you now.
pick. up. your. phone.
break the cadence of the dial tone.
I am alone here.
so, please pick up your phone!
"hello?"
"mom is gone..."
you hang up the phone.

Strong thoughts and desire in this poem. The phone can make us happy and crazy at the same time. Needing something and waiting can make you mad. No weakness in this poem. Just a story needing someone to answer their phone. Thank you for the excellent poem.

I'm not sure if my view on this is what you intended, but this really hits home, and I can really feel the urgency and the nervousness in these words. Very well done, Thanks for the read.
