Silent ending

Silent ending

A Poem by Dakarai
"

This is a poem about finality of death.

"

Another death

Another voiceless shattering

Dances on the fields of my mind

And kisses my soul’s skin with quaking violence

The African sun fails blunt the winter of ice and memories inside my chest

This death makes me wonder the weight of sorrow words in the hands of the departed

Makes me wonder of the majesty of virtually inked poetry to eyes closed, and a heart silent

As I stare at your fractured signature left upon the earth, I wonder

As I sit and bleed words written on my tongue yet left unspoken, I grieve

And as I hope my tragedy becomes the wings that will carry my words to you, I pray

But… will you feel the warmth of my tribute through the loose soil and painted wood?

Will you remember that it’s my voice as you drift through seas of grey and light?

Are the tears born of my distorted hours destined for the palms of your soul?

I don’t know

I’ll never know

But in the end I suppose that’s what death is

Questions carried in a sunset

A silent ending
