Air Traffic Controlled

Air Traffic Controlled

A Poem by Dennis Shanaberg

Let me calculate your trajectory
As you fly away from me,
Sitting here looking at this screen
While yet another departure leaves.
Criss-crossing lines trace the globe
To lands I've never been.
Come to think, this view I've known
Is the only one I'll ever see.

So, I'm going to pack a bag
And take just the things I need.
I'm going to hit the gas,
Goin' where the grass is ever green.

Renders in the distance.
Take this is your instant.
Clearing up the map
With every move outside this trap.
Got a lot of ground to cover,
Taking to air and sea.
Embrace the road like a lover
Till I'm somewhere only seen in dreams.

Fight the fear
And face the new
World out here
That is waiting to happen.
F**k it all
And fly you fools.
Take a step
Farther than you've ever been.

This world is yours
It was made for you
And for everyone else
That you'll meet.
