Red Eyes

Red Eyes

A Poem by Dennisha Quinones

Flooded in silence

My blurry sight observes

And observes---

Darkness.

Three red shinning lights stared at me

And my fears floated around my mind

and my secrets as a flash back.

Red eyes staring at me

I tried to look away but the pair won’t leave.

An annoying sound echoed

and I tried not to scream.
Still the red eyes staring at me.

Slowly I came back to reality
and took my second pair of eyes

To observe

Three red shinning numbers

6:00

In the morning.

Insults swimming in my head.

But come to think--

I haven’t been late to class

Since I meet those red eyes.
