For a Room in your Heart

For a Room in your Heart

A Poem by Mr Dennis Paquin

 Create a place for me
A place where I may stay
It need not be an elaborate place
For a simple room will do

Let it be within your heart
With a window where I might see
All the things that come your way
All the things that set you free

And what payment do I offer
For this place within your heart?

Well, some things will bring you sorrow
And some will bring you pain
Some things will be forgotten
And some will seem insane

It’s then that you will look for me
In that room that once was bare
And it’s there that you will find me
With a smile, broad and debonair.

I will make you laugh again
I, will make you smile
I will make a broom out of love
And sweep away your trials

I know it isn’t much
But it’s all that I have
I think if you accept it
One day you’ll be glad

So think on it tonight
I’ll wait outside your door
And if by chance you open it
I’ll dance across the floor

I’ll swing you up within my arms
I’ll sing you a little tune
I know you wouldn’t laugh at me
You’d never be so rude

But if you did..., it’s ok
For I know that I can’t sing
Like a frog calling out in the moonlight
It would be a funny thing

We’ll laugh with joy together
We’ll dance beneath the moon
We’ll act like little butterflies
And flutter about the room

But if you don’t I’ll understand
And travel on my way
Not to know such joys and sorrows
At least... not today.
