Promises

I'm told not to die,

not to hurt myself.

To feel better,

to look for someone else.

But alas, my heart cannot go on,

for I promised my heart to you.

Remember? Before you wanted to move on?

A promise I can't keep, but the one I hold true,

is the one that gave my heart forever to you.

Why do I do this?

Must I really put my soul into everything?

Did you really deserve my heart,

or did you have it on a string?

Will my heart go on,

as the song tells me so,

or is that just another promise,

that was only made to be broke?

Um... sorry these make no sense, I'm just trying to get the emotions out and I'm currently crying sooo yea. Please review.

Growing up is hell. I'm really glad I'm through it (centuries ago ).
I think writing out your thoughts is good therapy. It doesn't have to make sense to anybody but you.
Personally I thought it quite good. Reminded me when I went through those stages of life too.
I thought I would never survive, but here I am, an old man of 68... 68! now that's depressing.

I liked this poem. I have many poems above broken promises.
