The God of Destruction

The God of Destruction

A Chapter by Desert Dreamer
"

A dream fragment

"

Spring is here and the Poppies are opening to the warm sunshine.    The desert is alive with spring color and the ground is carpeted with green.  But still the shadows lurk...

I want to follow my dream to Baboquivari peak in the desert and find the laughing God of Destruction in the cave below the peak.  Is he there as I dreamed he would be?  He has wild dark hair, sharp canine teeth and large pupils that make his eyes dark and seductive.

In my dream my brother tries to warn me, tries to convince the wild God that I am no one, that he should not choose me, but I see in those wild eyes the eyes of a lover, the look that I cannot say no to.  I am already his.   He will sink his teeth into my neck in an embrace...

He will invite me to take part in destruction, to go to places where the desert has been bulldozed, to destroy the houses built in neat lines one after the other, to kill the humans who have overrun the earth.

I serve the God of Destruction.  His eyes are death and his invitation cannot be refused.

He will change me into a dragon and I will fly around the world, stomping, destroying and killing, continuing to follow until the world as it is known today is gone.  I feel sorrow for those who die.  And I see for a moment, in the eyes of this wild dancing God, sorrow for the dying ones and anger for what this culture has done to the earth, and then again he laughs and I see blood dripping from his teeth and we continue our dance of death and destruction.

If I go to the peak, will I find the laughing God?  Will I dare to look into his eyes?  I feel true fear when I look to the South and I see the distant peak on the horizon.  Why is he calling me?

I like the way you've written this.Destruction and rebirth.Good and evil heaven and hell all closely related.Good god and evil devil. They sometimes seem closely related.Like why would god have to cause a big flood .Doesn't he have satan to do that.I say maybe God is merely refusing to stop the destruction, not creating it.The destruction comes from our quest for knowledge(weather manipulation,eugenics,G.M.O. veggies,cloning,H.A.R.P. and Hauldron collider)

The Bible tells us that after the great flood, God said that He would never destroy the Earth again. We did not learn much from that lesson however, and perhaps He has changed His mind.

I appreciate what you're expressing here, and you've done it well. Although I understand why you told the story from the OUTSIDE, I wondered why you didn't tell it from the INSIDE. Rather than talking ABOUT the dream, what about writing it as if it is happening to you, as though you are confused, puzzled, or even fearful within the dream state because it seems SO real. Maybe write another version, then make the above the SECOND version, whereby it illuminates the FIRST. Does that make sense?

You have made the God of Destruction come alive for me....I sense the calling...He is misunderstood...he simply wants his home..to not be destroyed...The imagery in your story is beautiful...I've always loved the deep red of simple poppies...they make me think of Poland :)

most people think of Nature in fury as destruction when its her working a clean slate and reconstructing ~ we just get in the way and take it personal
