Yin and Yang

Yin and Yang

A Poem by Broken Desires

I

There is a coin divided in two,
An image shaped in tear halves,
One black and one white,
Within each half lays a circle,
Circles colored with its opposite.

One measures the overcast; the feminine,
It's cloudy, negative and dubious,
It is undisturbed and yet allotted to the sphere of life,
It represents time, shadows, mystery,
And if invoked, emotion and influence.

It is the ruler of senses, emotions,
Fickle and changeable; influenced and not,
It is the lighthouse for the darkness,
An illumination to an abyss; untouched,
It is the compass, tracking the passing of time.

The overseer of growth and journey,
Its concept is complex and abstract,
The mind a labyrinth of questions and answers,
It is the emergence of human experience,
And I am the understanding.

II

There is a coin divided in two
An image shaped in Tear halves
One black and one white
Within each half lays a circle
Circles colored with its opposite.

The other measures the positive ; an electrical charge,
It is life; powerful and strong,
It brings clarity and without effort warmth to the sphere of life,
It represents force, energy and self,
And if opened further, the personality, the ego and the spirit.

It is the identity and our courage,
It is a goal whether it likes it or not,
A symbol for new passage and accomplishments,
It is a ruler, a king that commands and leads,
It gives us determination, the willpower to continue living.

Its concept is complex and abstract,
It is the symbol of self relization,
It is our direction, our expression,
It is the  conscious mind
And he is the ego

III

There is a coin divided in two
An image shaped in Tear halves
One black and one white
Within each half lays a circle
Circles colored with its opposite.

They are completely divergent,
Her and Him,
Yet they complement the other,
Polar opposites and yet they interact,
One dark and one light yet both are necessary,

You attempt to run from me, to deter me,
You fear me, keeping me always at arms length
But to live a life with just one aspect is not living at all,
I have already accepted you, those burning rays,
I have already given to you my darkness

Your stubbornness I admire so even with your play at words
I have embedded my darkness within you
I have stained you with the fear of knowing; loving.
I am your shadow, you are my light,
You are my determination, and I your emotion
You are my yang and I your Yin.

We are opposites that attract.
