Perfectly Imperfect Me

Perfectly Imperfect Me

A Poem by Dessa

I tried to be perfect

I tried to be everything you wanted me to be
but no matter what I did, it was never good enough
and the more I tried, the more uninterested you become
the more uninterested you became, the harder I tried.

I've learned my lesson I see the craziness of it all

I’m going to stop trying
stop being something I’m not

I’m going back to the unperfected me
the me I was before I met you
when I was happy with myself

I’m leaving you and that fake person behind

I’m coming back to me and all my faults
and I will be happy
with the perfectly imperfect person that I am.

i like the flow of this poem. you shouldn't change yourself for anyone and you should be happy with who you are.

"with the perfectly imperfect person that I am."
how charming & witty with such heart-breaking melancholy undertones. as the old saying goes you can't please everyone so you just gotta please yourself. i like how you've come to the realization that you are perfect exactly as you are. it is so easily forgotten in this world now. but each & everyone of us is the 'perfectly imperfect person' we are supposed to be. 2 long-held beliefs in this world that we all realize eventually is: you can't change who you are, & you have to find someone who loves you as you are. great poem with a wonderful, uplifting message.
