If Walls Could Talk

If Walls Could Talk

A Poem by Destinee
"

From my mouth the darkest crimes would bloom.

"
If I could talk,
If I could tell you everything I’ve seen,
I could tell you stories you would never want to believe.
No one knows what I have seen with my all-seeing eyes.
No one is alive to tell the secrets I’ve overheard.

I’ve seen little pieces of heaven and little pieces of hell
I’ve heard whispers of tenderness and screams of hatred
I’ve seen love spoken to one and given to another
I’ve heard a heart breaking and footsteps leaving.

Oh, How hard it is to watch life fade away,
How hard it is to watch love grow cold,
How hard it is to listen to every pained cry,
How hard it is to bear witness to these images
And be unable to speak one word.

You will never hear from me.
My mouth is shut, but my eyes and ears are forever open.
It is my curse, to be able to stand so tall, so straight, so strong.

To bear the weight of the world
To hold the roof over the murder’s head and be unable to break
To shelter the demons of the world and separate the angels

I cannot tell you whom exactly I’ve seen.
I cannot tell you what exactly I’ve heard.

But if walls could talk

I would.

Parts of this I really relate to: "I could tell you stories you would never want to believe."

A good thing is if walls did speak you could listen to their stories while having a pint or two. You could get drunk next to bricks! And it would be an entirely sane thing. Would be a good excuse atleast ;-)

A very good piece. Kudos!

Such a beautiful poem. It's full of sadness and grief. Such a heartbroken poem, really.

Awesome!! Very creative way using a wall... Gosh, this has so many reviews already that I really don't have anything to say that hasn't already been told...
just a good job. You deserve the praises.
Keep it up! :)

Beautiful. "If walls could talk I would". That has to be the best metaphor I've heard in months. To hold the world on your shoulders, Atlas, and to keep the roof from falling on it, by being passive, by doing nothing, by keeping still and not shaking a universe which tickles you with every passing and disturbing breath... well, maybe 'tickles' isn't the best word, but I can't think of anything else. Extremely well conveyed.

Very strong and more emotional than I thought it would be. Great piece I especially love
"To bear the weight of the world
To hold the roof over the murder’s head and be unable to break
To shelter the demons of the world and separate the angels"
Because that's how it would feel and it shows the unfortunate truth of how the world is and your unwilling function as the wall in it.

This is really powerful. Slightly short. But powerful :D
I loved the fact that this makes people THINK.
Beware for the walls have eyes and ears. :D

Oh this is VERY good! Amazing....the words just pierce you and it kinda made me look around. All of a sudden, everything around me went silent. That's how captivated i was! and i especially loved the part when you said "To shelter the demons of the world and separate the angels"

With poetry I believe that the reader should feel something and walk away unable to stop thinking of what they just read. And that's exactly how i feel, and you've definitely given me something to think about.
thanks for the request. please write more like this one.
