You wanna tell me

What you’ve been doing

All the nights I spent waiting

For you to contact me

All the nights

That you never did

 

You wanna tell me

Why you come home so late

All the nights you tell me

You’re working

All the nights

That you never were

 

You wanna tell me

Why you try to lie to me

All the nights of excuses

All the nights

I believed them

 

Tell me that I’m just wasting my time

My valuable, precious, time

Tell me you want nothing from me

Because I know you don’t

I see it in the way you act

The way you lie

The way I fall for it

 

Answer my questions for me

Or I’ll answer them for myself

And you’ll never get

The benefit of the doubt

Because I’ll make assumptions

Brutal assumptions

And you’ll never find yourself

Back in my arms

Back in my embrace

Ever again

 

Don’t tell me these lies

You’re not working late at night

You’re not too busy to contact me

You just don’t want me

You just don’t deserve my time

 

Work for your job

Work for anything but me

But us

 

I finally found something

More important to me, than you
