Game of Cards

Game of Cards

A Poem by Poesy Child

Playing the game of cards
No not Bridge or Rummy
Its simply placing one upon another
Till they are fed up to stand together.

I started up building castles
With so many Alice's in Wonderlands,
Queens with wonderful faces
Kings with warrior swords
But ended up with frozen imaginations
Sleeping fast in sound slumbers
The likes of Rip Van Winkles.

Now the cards only try to fly
No not in the sky
Just from the desk to the earth
Height they dream not of
Yet earth looks far away.

Reality whether high
Or low
Whether fast
Or slow
It stings straight sharp
Like the fangs of venomous snakes.

Clocks speak tic-toc-tic-toc-tic
The game is over
Cinderella has got to go
No Prince won't come
With slippers in hand.

Its only scattered cards everywhere
And ever scattered
Pieces of hope
Lost in stinging reality...
