New Year's Attribution

A Poem by Devin Gates
"

Because we are all sick of hearing about someone's hollow New Year's Resolution, rights?

"

New Year’s Attribution

The calendar has brought us back once again,

To the season of failed attempts with good intention.

We promise this, and commit to that,

Some of us even form a pact.

The coming of a new year brings some people promise,

As for the majority, the clean slate brings them solace.

With each rotation of the calendar, people wish and toast for a better year.

And with that, they start saying things that we always hear.

“Better with my money”

“Quit smoking”

“Go to the gym”

“Get better at joking”

But instead of wishing and toasting to a better year, or two

Why not try working and improving on a better you?
