The Yawn Song

The Yawn Song

A Poem by Dhemila
"

This is, again, a song. The first two stanzas are quieter, and then the third breaks in. Towards the end of the third starting with 'am I' there is a crescendo of sorts, and then over the last two stanzas which are repetitions, there is some more complica

Who

are you

To say I'm making a mistake

I don't decide today's a wednesday

Any more than I decide to come down this way

It's

Late again

But i'd rather be awake

I used to be the best of sleepers

Not anymore

Answer the phone

I'll ring you when my ringing ears are done

Laugh, laugh some more

It's all we do, it's what we're in love for

Pull open doors

But pull the curtains shut

Draw spider webs

Inside our windows

Make believe that we're not home

No we're alone

No we're together

No it's wrong

But yes its right

Can it be not alright

Am I alright

Is this a fight

To keep to hold to have

And never have to want to hold

To be just not be to sit to   stand just for beleif

What do these words mean

Do they

Have any weight in what we say

Do we

Gave any luck

With living free

Am I

Just one more pebble in the brook

Or do the waves like me enough

To pick me up and carry  me [away]

Who

Are you

To say I'm making a mistake

I don't decide today's a wednesday

Any more than I decide to grow up this way
