The Breath of Tomorrow

The Breath of Tomorrow

A Poem by Diane Valterra
"

I have been asked to share ...so here it is another poem Thanks

"

Loneliness swoops in like a great eagle diving to the earth to grasp the frightened rodent scurrying across the field,

Fearing tomorrow and its reality, my heart sobs for a consoling love to draw me close, to protect and care for me,

Life for me has been as it is for most of us filled with love, sorrow, achievements, moments of great joy and disappointments,

The longer I live the more I understand that I have paved my own road not destiny, for I have the power to change the direction,

Sometimes I grow weary and tired of the battles, tired of the uphill struggles we all face daily and at times I am frightened,

In my heart I know I must rise to meet each days challenges and fight the battles of today to reach the nightfall and peace,

Just once I would like to rise to greet the sun and feel the warmth, knowing that I have reached the final destination,

Here comes the dawn once more and I will rise to win my battles, to climb above the rubble and travel the road ahead,

Looking to the future to give me wings to soar, to find the open door and to have the strength to walk though it, to breathe the fragrance of the new dawn.

Very fresh and vivid imagery. I feel like I'm reading from a page in a journal more than a poem but it still captivated my attention and held my interest. I loved the tender voice and the gentle lilte to it all. It was almost as if i was taking a stroll down memory lane.
