10 Haikus

10 Haikus

A Poem by k.d. taylor

1-

Explosives, like birds,

Calling out the names of our

Fallen princesses.

2-

Falling into the

Ocean, not unlike driftwood,

To fuel not one fire.

3-

Stray dogs howling blues,

Whispering to the soft moon,

-Nothing important.

4-

Shade cast by my lamp,

Mosquitoes hiding around

In the dim shadows.

5-

Roses, rising from

Razed towns in America,

Raising some questions.

6-

Bladders full of hope,

Hopping bar to bar to bar,

Searching for answers.

7-

Dropping to her knees,

She’ll make an honest man out

Of that little boy.

8-

Rimbaud and Verlaine,

Letting romance die alone,

Deep in Africa.

9-

You should have taken

More photographs on your trip

Back home/ off the road.

10-

Daddy’s little girl

Grew up overnight, it seems,

-Blame the radio.
