15 Haikus

15 Haikus

A Poem by k.d. taylor

1-

Gasoline houses,

Smoke filling the lungs swiftly,

Coughing in your sleep.

2-

Pens and papers and

Some empty bottles of wine,

Writing words/stories.

3-

Doggy-eared papers,

Clipped together as the dark ink

Drips and runs runs runs.

4-

Trains floating on by,

The birds tweeting “twit twit twit”

-Dream within a dream.

5-

The record skipping,

Smoke hanging, pages turning,

Shall we all stay young?

6-

Animals craving

Skin and bones (society),

And we’re all quite mad.

7-

Role playing, fun, games,

A seminal of old souls,

Unjustly honest.

8-

Tell me about love?

Going on about my girl,

‘Cause she’s no Jane Doe.

9-

Disciplined, happy,

Ferlinghetti has taught us

How to Paint Sunlight.

10-

My soul is running

To the great party where we

Celebrate ourselves.

11-

Drifting viciously,

Never again a man of

This “very good world”

12-

Roman numerals

Light the way to riches.

One more damn page, please.

13-

I regret no choice,

Only the ability

To make them at all.

14-

Sir, come down off your

Highest horse, now, right away,

I have a secret.

15-

Dead cat, side of road,

I mourn you, I’ll miss you,

-Man can’t be holy.
