On Rice and BamboozlementA Poem by BreezyThis is a free verse poem.
My dinner consists of beef and rice and beans,
And as I consume the protein plate, I find myself staring out the cracked window in my kitchen-- There is a gaggle of babes running about: Playing Leap Frog, Tag, and something called Red Rover, And what struck me funny was how one of the children Was dressed in a most queer costume-- He looked like a grain of rice-- white shirt, White breeches, White shoes, White cap; I look at my plate--everything eaten but the rice
And then I look back out my cracked window I'm a bit bamboozled-- I enjoy eating rice, but the sight of that child Has cost me my appetite. © 2015 Breezy |
