Fading Fantasy

Fading Fantasy

A Poem by dramamine

Her figure roams in my brain, a picture of perfection, the possessed pleasure.

She is everything to me, this aching affection I cannot measure.

The truth hidden behind this lie, blooming beneath the goodbye.

An angel among this bitter black I have created in me, for reasons I could not see.

I don’t know what to do, bleeding an image locked away in my cancer-shaped soul.

She is the only thing that will make me whole.

I’d do anything just to have her for myself, an empty desire.

Whispering torment, breathing loneliness, choking on the spider.

This fading fantasy, she conceals my pain.

I’m below, I cannot let go, she must remain.

I won’t let this show. I won’t let her go.

A lasting confusion, my innocent insanity, she is the cause of my deepening abyss.

So fragile yet so devious, I cannot resist.

I don’t want to be this, torn into pieces, all I need is one more reason.

My sins still remain, peal away the skin to keep me drained.

She lets me feel and I know this cut will never heal.

She isn’t real. I can’t make her real.

Greatly inspired by the song Vermilion Pt.2 by Slipknot, which is a truly amazing song. Please let me know your thoughts.

Your poetry never disappoints, Twiggy... once again, you capture the essence of a song so well...the aftermath of pain and suffering seen in the realization that 'she' is no longer real...I took the liberty of going back and listening to Part 1 so I could get the entire story...what I found was a song that captures many of the themes of your previous writes (that feeling of being lost and feeling alone in a crowded world; how society ignores the suffering; etc) so this piece you have written, becomes a 'part 2' of many of your earlier poems, at least for me... this whole poem screams desperation to hold on to that fantasy as the mind slowly spirals towards the stark realization that she isn't 'real'... thanks again for introducing me to this song and the other...and thanks for your wonderful poetry!

As i have said before there is a time to pat a person on the back with words of praise for there writing talents. Then there is a time when words can not truly do justice to how much you like and appreciate their skills. When that happens just like now with this poem there is only one thing a person can do. Standing Ovation Clap! Clap! Clap!
