Yesteryear

Yesteryear

A Poem by Dave "Doc" Rogers
"

A poem I thought up on thoughts at year end.

"

When I was young and the day was new
My hopes and dreams were fresh, too
Plans were made for the things I would do
With longing expectation, therefore, I grew

As time went on, as it will do
The days blended to weeks then flew
The things I planned now withdrew
Life in moments, busily filled too

The speed of summer is now past
The days are colder, not meant to last
Wishing time was slower, but the die is cast
End nearing with winter's blast

An age is gone, what was is lost
Time is fleeting, there is a cost
Shining moments, memories glossed
Wishes and wants, plans now tossed

A year is gone, what was done
A year is gone, work or fun
A year is gone, what deed was won
A year is gone, what new plan has begun
