                This Thing About Poetry

                                        By Ralph Proenza

There is this thing I’ve always seen about the art of Poetry,

Can shed big tears all over the years like leaves of a sequoia tree.

Elicits laughter from corny jokes that make you slap your forehead

But then it turns around and tells you how you feel when Dead!

This thing about the art of Poetry is that it has EMOTION.

When the mood to share and the feeling’s there you just write down that notion

And spill you guts of bolts and nuts and bleed upon the paper

Quickly done before it's gone lest 'way they go like vapor.

very clever rhyme here...and i love your line of spilling guts of bolts and nuts...
yes, "the art of poetry"
it is that...and that is why there is always a certain abstract quality...because readers look at it like a Word Painting...and see what they see...
nicely done, Ralph,

I like the rhyming and rhythm, especially in the last two to four lines. My favorite line is "This thing about the art of Poetry is that it has Emotion."
