She left

She left

A Poem by Annabelle Lee

She left without warning today
She had cleaned her room and all the clothes were taken
Nobody could ask why she had run away
Nobody could stop my heart from breaking
Should have seen it in her face,
Should have seen in the scars
She'd felt she was losing the race
She was trying too hard
Always looking too far forward to want to be here
Always making plans and not wanting to wait
Her disappearance was something I'd always feared
But I had no Idea she'd leave today
I'd always planned for years and years
I'd never planned her running from me
Neither of us wanted to be here
Neither of us were ever serious, really
Until today
Because She left with no warning, no idea where she'd gone
I hope she'll come back, I wish she'd taken me along

For some reason when I read this I felt like you were speaking of your mother, especially at the end. Not knowing anything about you or your family life, I won't presume to trust my own interpretation...all I can say is this is a very well penned piece and I thank you for sharing your raw emotions with us.

I know this feeling well. I'm sorry Annabelle and I hope she'll be ok. You write from the heart and the gut.
