Mathematique (translation below)

Just a little poem I wrote while having a maths class, hope you like it :)

L'ennui,

Il neige sur mon esprit,

Bouleverse par des numeros inconstantes

Qui tombent sur mes yeux inconscientes.

Une heure mauvaise maltraite mon ame,

Dans cette chambre de torture je voix une dame,

Elle se moque de moi avec ses mots enigmatique,

Voici madame la Mathematique !

TRANSLATION

Title: Mathematics

Boredom,

It snows on my mind,

Worried by these inconstant numbers

That fall upon my unconscious eyes.

A mean hour mistreats my soul,

In this torture chamber I see a woman,

She mocks at me with her enigmatic words,

Here is madam Mathematiques.

This poem is so hilarious to me. I can relate. I do not see how a person can get excitement out of the study of mathematics. It often bores me; until this school year though. I hate math. I am somewhat decent in it though, if you call a high "B" and an "A" good. I sometimes catch myself drifting into outer space and daydreaming. My friends bring me back to Earth. Haha. :) Off topic, is French a complicated language to learn and speak? I have been taking Spanish 2 this year. It is not that bad. So is it harder or easier than Spanish? I do quite well in Spanish too. I am just curious that's all.

Thx for the review :) Is frech difficult? A bit but believe me, you can deal with it ! The main problems are the accents (which I can't write here on WC) and the fact you usually don't pronounce a lot of letters you write xD but you'll definitely learn how to deal with that if you pick french. I suggest you to learn it, it's a wonderful language, you won't regret it ;)

I feel like you should at an 's' to 'mistreat' in the end but, overall I loved this piece because I totally relate to you. I found a certificate back in middle school saying I would excel in math and now I just now go my first B as the school year is ending. The rest were D's. Anyways this poem was great, love the whole concept of the translating the work. It was a great sophistication to it as I had to read it twice to make sure I got all the imagery you created with your diction which was great. Also why did math become a woman; most symbolism for things are always women, why? Anyways you did a wonderful job; can't wait to read more of your pieces.

Thank you very much for the correction, I simply didn't notice I misspelled it :( I was in such a hurry to publish it, I translated it as quiclky as possible. I can ensure you it is written correctly in French, though ahah (maltraite). I can totally understand you, though I've never been good in maths. I was terrible at it even in primary school ! Thank you very much for your very kind compliments, I really appreciate them. Well, the reason why I pictured Maths as a woman is actually ... linguistic. I translated the poem in English so that people can understand it but, actually, the original poem has been thought in French. In romance languages such as French, objects have a gender. In French maths is feminine (LA mathematique). Also in the other two romance languages I speak, Italian (LA matematica) and Portuguese (A matematica), maths is always feminine, so it came out naturally.
