Just A Second..

Like all my poems.. This one is from the heart..

Your sitting in the back of your mom's car. Back against the cool window. Looking out the rear-view mirror. The familiar sent of Cherry Blossom perfume and Mom and Nana's cigarette smoke in the air. Headphones in ears listening to the sounds of 'Pass Slowly- Seether'. Your dressed up, even in heels. You can't remember the last time you felt calm, happy. Felt anything. An overwhelming sense of calm comes over. You can't breathe at a normal rate. Just for a second you say a prayer...

 

God I know I might not talk as much,

 

or how I should.

 

I know that not being taught isn't an excuse

 

but I need you, God.

 

This isn't working.

 

I don't know what is going on.

 

I feel nothing.

 

If you could just help me with what I need,

 

I promise

 

I will do as I should.

 

I'll be good.

 

God, can you do me one more favor?

 

Can you please forgive everyone's sins

 

let them go to heaven.

 

Help them find you

 

as I have.

 

Everyone needs hope.
